Capacity Building for the management of water supply and sanitation schemes

The general objective of this assignment was to empower Dar es Salaam’s community with the management, financial, and institutional skills to manage their water supply and sanitation schemes in an effective and sustainable manner.

Training was carried out for community members who were in charge of managing water supply and sanitation schemes, including executive committee members, Water User Associations, accountants and technicians.

The following topics were covered:
- CWSSP organizational structures, the roles and responsibilities of all stakeholders, conflict
  resolution techniques
- Communication types and flows in the CWSSP structure.
- Operation and maintenance (O &M) for water supply and sanitation projects
- Identifying and controlling water losses
- Providing good customer care services
- General principles of financial management
